This is a sample post. Nobody at Melendez Collegiate Advising wrote it, and it does not announce anything. It is here so you can see what a post looks like on the public site before you write your first one — and so you have something harmless to practise deleting.
How to delete this post
- Sign in and go to Content → Blog.
- Open Sample post — this is what a blog post looks like.
- Choose Delete.
It disappears from the public blog straight away. Nothing else on the site depends on it.
How to write a real one
Use New post on the same screen. A post has:
- a title and a web address (the address is fixed once the post is published, so a link you have shared keeps working);
- a short summary, which is the paragraph shown on the blog listing and nowhere else;
- an optional header image;
- the body, written in plain text with a few marks for formatting:
##starts a heading,-starts a bullet, and**words**makes them bold.
Draft, published, archived
A post is a draft until you publish it, and a draft is genuinely invisible — it is not hidden by the page, it is not in the data the public site is allowed to read at all. Set a publication date in the future and the post appears on its own on that date.
Archived takes a post off the site without destroying it, which is usually what you want for something that is simply out of date.
One thing worth knowing
The blog is yours. Nothing here writes posts for you, and nothing publishes on your behalf — a post goes live when a member of your staff decides it does.
